Dr. Mahendra Kumar Shriya is a senior ophthalmologist with over four decades of clinical experience, renowned for his work in cataract and squint surgery and for his long-standing service to the community through Shriya Eye Hospital and Maternity Home, Shahpura (Jaipur).
Dr. Shriya completed his MBBS from Shri Maharaja Harisingh Medical College, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir during 1969–1974, which provided him a strong foundation in medicine. He went on to pursue MS in Ophthalmology at the prestigious SMS Medical College, Jaipur between 1980–1982, gaining specialized training in eye diseases and microsurgery.
He is a senior and highly experienced ophthalmologist, with special expertise in phacoemulsification for cataract surgery, squint correction surgeries, and various laser procedures for eye diseases. Over his career, he has performed more than 10,000 phacoemulsification surgeries, reflecting his surgical skill and the trust he commands among patients.
Dr. Shriya is the founder and full‑time Director of Shriya Eye Hospital and Maternity Home in Shahpura (Jaipur), established in 1991 and serving patients continuously since then. Under his leadership, the hospital has become a dedicated centre for eye care and maternal services for the local and surrounding population.
Dr. Prabha Shriya is a distinguished obstetrician and gynecologist with extensive experience in maternal and women’s healthcare. She completed her MBBS and MS in Obstetrics & Gynecology from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, and served as a Medical Officer at Government Hospital, Shahpura, for four years.
Dr. Prabha Shriya has made significant contributions to maternal and child healthcare in Shahpura and rural Rajasthan. She was the first to introduce antenatal ultrasound in Shahpura and rural Jaipur and pioneered major procedures including LSCS, abdominal hysterectomy, and vaginal hysterectomy in the region.
She has conducted more than 25,000 deliveries with zero maternal mortality, achieving outcomes comparable to international benchmarks despite limited resources and at approximately 10% of the cost compared with Delhi-NCR.
In 1992, she co-founded Shriya Eye Hospital and Maternity Home with Dr. Mahendra Kumar Shriya, helping provide accessible and affordable women’s healthcare to the rural population.
She has received multiple State Government awards for performing the highest number of family planning operations in a year in Jaipur District. She was also honored by Hind Seva Dal on Mother’s Day for her contribution to women’s health and received the “Women Pride Award” from the Dainik Bhaskar Group for her inspirational journey and service to society.
